Big Pictures provides film production and location services in New Zealand to commercial, television and film production companies from around the world.

Big Pictures was established in 1987. Since then we have filmed in every part of the country, from beyond the surf line at our sub tropical northern beaches to high above the snow line in the Southern Alps. Our New Zealand location experience is unmatched.

We have worked with some of the world's great film makers, producing award winning commercials, documentaries, music videos, feature films and large format films.

Shooting is completed on Dan Salmon's feature documentary, Bloody Hippies. The doco, which will take viewers on a hippy trip back to 1970's New Zealand, is in post production and is scheduled for delivery in late 2009.

In July, Paris based production company Rabbit Content shot a new spot for French Sporting Goods company Decathlon, with Lieven Van Baelen directing. The location was the Cardrona ski area near Wanaka in the South Island.

London's Blink Productions were back in March to shoot this extremely eye-catching spot for Coke and Mother London. Dougal Wilson directed. Shot on location in Auckland with a cast of local critters.

Big Pictures and Melbourne's Exit Films shot a brand TVC for Ford, "The Road Less Taken", for JWT Auckland in February. Director was Mark Molloy. Locations included Dunedin, Oamaru, Central Otago and Auckland.

In January Big Pictures shot a commercial for Platinum Guild with Chinese super star Zhang Ziyi. Directed by Hong Kong director Maisy Choi for Such Films the commercial was shot on location in the Southern Alps. LA photographer Robert Eardmann shot the print campaign.

Big Pictures recently shot an ad for Trainline with director Simon Willows and London's Blink Productions at the Wellington Rail Station. The stars of the commercial were fifty wonderfully talented sheep. Our favourites were Buster and Minnie, now veterans of the silver screen with several movie roles behind them
